Firefighters have extinguished a two-alarm fire that caused heavy damage to two homes in the Pecan Gardens area of Virginia Beach.

Fire officials say two more cats were in the other home, but haven’t shared whether they’ve been accounted for at this time. The blaze started at a shed between the two homes in the 500 block of Grant Avenue just after 3 p.m. Firefighters received a call at 3:15 p.m. and got the fire under control approximately 30 minutes later. Investigators determined the fire was started by a juvenile playing with fire.
