Storms Knock Out Power In Southern Plains

Storms moving across the southern Plains on Thursday brought winds strong enough to blow apart barns and roll a mobile home in Arkansas. Thousands of people lost power, and a lightning-sparked fire killed a man. Meanwhile, at least two possible tornadoes were spotted in Arkansas, and large hail and strong winds were likely into the afternoon. Surrounding states saw heavy rain such as southern Oklahoma where it had baseball-sized hail and in Mississippi, where winds reached 80 mph.
