A storm that wreaked havoc as it dumped as much as 10 inches of snow from Texas to Indiana barreled eastward on Friday, promising to bring more of the same. At least 13 deaths were blamed on slippery roads in Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Indiana. In Chicago, a jet trying to land in heavy snow Thursday evening slid off a runway at Midway International Airport and into a busy street, killing a 6-year-old boy and injuring at least 10 others. Forecasters said the system would move up the coast, bringing as much as a foot of snow to New England.
