A severe storm in Deer River caused a lot of damage and community members have been working hard to restore the area. Crews came from all around Minnesota to repair damage left behind. Hundreds of people were left without power by the storm. Dan Gunderson, the Director of Operations for Minnesota Power, said "Daylight is always our friend. We moved through and did restoration last night and today and maybe even more tomorrow." Besides knocking out power, dozens of trees were ripped out of the ground, many signs and buildings were tipped over and several rooftops were crushed as the storm rolled through.
