It’s been nearly a year since the derecho blew through Iowa and a Des Moines family is still dealing with damage to their house.
Brian Smith and Tony Vaino’s house in Union Park suffered damage to their roof, back porch, garage, walls and foundation.
Smith said it left them with $63,000 worth of repairs. Over the past year, Smith said State Farm has only covered $36,000 worth of damage. He said they are refusing to pay for fixing his porch, walls and foundation.
"I want to be helped here. It’s time to get my house back," Smith said.
Smith said a total of eight inspectors have surveyed the damage over the past year and they still can’t get a straight answer from State Farm.
